Avian Influenza (H5N1) is a type of influenza type A which attacks poultry, especially chickens and sometimes to humans. Bird flu can be transmitted from live poultry to humans, although transmission between humans are relatively rare. Common symptoms of bird flu the same as any other influenza virus, such as fever, muscle pain all the joints, cough and sore throat. However, in been cases can result in high fever, lung infection, respiratory failure, other organ malfunctions and death.
Infected birds spread the virus in saliva, respiratory tract fluids, and feces. Bird flu virus spread among susceptible birds when they are exposed to contaminated feces. It is believed that most cases of H5N1 infection in humans caused by contact with infected poultry or contaminated environment.
Containing oseltamivir Tamiflu is an antiviral treatment, which proved able to suppress the ability of the virus to spread from infected cells to healthy cells. Currently these can only available antiviral hospital receiving Tamiflu.
